How do you break a losing skid during which you averaged a respectable five runs per game? Scoring 17 times should do the trick. Eastern Mennonite did that Thursday, taking over with an eight-run sixth inning en route to a 17-13 victory over Southern Virginia.
The Royals committed three errors in the top of the second and fell behind their visitors 8-2. Despite the early deficit, the men kept attacking and chiseled the lead down to 8-6 after three. Read more
EMU loses opener to Greensboro
Taking on a team that has already beaten many of your conference rivals is no easy task, and the Royals ran into that predicament Friday afternoon when they hosted Greensboro College. Eastern Mennonite played well, but an eight-run fifth inning cost the men in a 12-6 loss at home.
Although the Pride were not getting extra base hits, they got enough hard-hit singles to score a run in the first inning and chase starter Chris DeWald (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette) after two frames. Read more
EMU splits two
The Royals snapped a three-game losing skid Saturday, taking a walk-off win from Emory & Henry in the first game of an ODAC doubleheader in Harrisonburg. The men had to settle for a split, however, as EHC stole the decision in the nightcap.

Game one was all about pitching, as Eastern Mennonite scored the only run in the first four innings with an unearned tally in the bottom of the first.
Remington Hedgepeth led off the EHC half of the fifth with a game-tying homerun. He then put the Wasps in front with a two-run double in the sixth. A third run scored on an error, and Emory & Henry had a 4-1 lead. Read more
EMU baseball swept in twinbill
The Eastern Mennonite baseball team wrapped up their play at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Wednesday against Pitt-Greensburg. Despite out-hitting their opponents on the day, the Royals also made seven errors in the twinbill, dropping both games.
EMU displayed plenty of offense over their five games at the RussMatt, and came home with a 2-3 mark in Florida. Read more

The Eastern Mennonite baseball team continued their play at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Tuesday and split a pair of seven-inning games with Juniata College.

Royals open RussMatt with 6-2 win
After a through-the-night bus ride to Florida, the Royals were ready to go Monday afternoon, opening their play at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational with a 6-2 win over Cazenovia. The men also have doubleheaders scheduled against Juniata and Pitt-Greensburg in Winter Haven, FL.
Neither team scored over the first two innings, but EMU got things rolling in the bottom of the third. Justin Rodriguez (Miramar, FL/Pace) knocked in Chris Rodriguez (Miami, FL/Pace) with a two-out single to put the men up 1-0. Read more
EMU baseball posts another win
A day after combining for 50 runs over 16 innings, it looked like EMU and Southern Vermont would settle into a low-scoring affair. Then the seventh inning happened as the two teams put up nine runs. The Royals held the edge again on Sunday, completing a three-game sweep of SVC with a 12-9 win.
Each team brought in a solo run in the first, with Justin Rodriguez (Miramar, FL/Pace) bringing in EMU’s on a sacrifice fly. The Mountaineers scored their second unearned run in the third, but the home team followed suit in the bottom of the inning when Christian Rodriguez (Miami, FL/Pace) scored as Dylan Smith (Sterling, VA/Park View) was caught in a run-down between first and second.
