P-Nats, Mary Washington Healthcare announce partnership for stadium project

Potomac NationalsThe Potomac Nationals have entered into a 10-year partnership with Mary Washington Healthcare for their new baseball stadium to be built in Fredericksburg.

This follows the City of Fredericksburg’s announcement on June 26th that it will consider entering into a letter of intent with the Potomac Nationals to help provide funds for a 5,000-seat multi-purpose stadium to be built in Celebrate Virginia South. Pending a vote on the letter of intent and an additional review period with the City, the stadium is scheduled to open in April 2020.

The partnership with Mary Washington Healthcare, which is a not-for-profit regional system of two hospitals and 28 healthcare facilities and wellness services, represents the first “Founding Partnership” agreement for the new stadium project. P-Nats Chairman and CEO Art Silber stated, “We are thrilled to have a partnership with the leading healthcare provider in the region, a bedrock member of the Fredericksburg community. This relationship will provide tremendous benefits for both parties and the community.” While the partnership will be further detailed as development plans for the stadium are refined in the coming months, Mary Washington Healthcare will enjoy numerous key benefits, for example, opportunities for its Associates to attend games and use stadium facilities, programs to support the Mary Washington Healthcare Foundation, and a prominent presence at the ballpark itself including a designated family area.

“We are excited to be the first Founding Partner for the P-Nats, as they eye a move to Fredericksburg. We are discussing with the Silber family many ways in which our partnership can contribute to the overall strength and health of our community,” said Eric Fletcher, Senior Vice President, Mary Washington Healthcare.

Silber added that “This arrangement – the first major partnership we’ve announced — exemplifies the tremendous support we’ve already received from the greater Fredericksburg area for the new stadium. We are really overwhelmed by the support from the community, and feel honored to have the opportunity to become a part of the fabric of the Fredericksburg region.”

The P-Nats are actively engaged in discussions with other major businesses in the region to partner with them on naming rights for the stadium, naming rights for its planned 300-seat club facility, along with additional Founding Partnerships. The team is also actively pursuing agreements for the 13 suites that are planned for the ballpark. More details and descriptions of the ballpark plan are available at www.fredericksburgbaseball.com.
