Nats prospects Carter Kieboom, Luis Garcia named to 2018 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game

washington nationalsMajor League Baseball announced that Washington Nationals prospects SS Carter Kieboom and SS Luis Garcia have been selected to participate in the 2018 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game as part of All-Star Sunday at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. on July 15th.

The 20-year-old Kieboom started the 2018 campaign with the Potomac Nationals and earned a spot on the Mid-Season Carolina League All-Star. In his first year with the P-Nats, Kieboom hit .298 with 11 home runs and 46 RBIs. In 61 games with The Red, White, & Blue, the brother of current Washington Nationals C Spencer Kieboom tallied 15 doubles and 48 runs scored. In his final 33 games with Potomac, Kieboom slashed .394/.463/.630, with six home runs, 27 RBIs, and 50 hits. Kieboom, who entered the 2018 season as the third ranked prospect in Washington’s system by MLB.com, and the fourth ranked prospect by Baseball America, will represent the U.S. Team.

The 18-year-old Garcia joined Potomac prior to Thursday’s series opener vs. the Salem Red Sox. Garcia, who will play for the World Team, spent the first half of the 2018 campaign at Class-A Hagerstown, and is currently the youngest player in the Carolina League. In 78 games with the Hagerstown Suns, Garcia hit .297 with 21 extra-base hits and 31 RBIs. Garcia picked up his first Carolina League hit in Potomac’s matchup with the Red Sox on Thursday, July 5th.
