The Lynchburg Hillcats (30-27) lost to the Winston-Salem Dash (23-33) tonight despite taking a ninth inning lead. Jose Peraza tripled with the bases loaded and two outs putting the ‘Cats up 5-4 in the top of the ninth. Then, Tim Anderson hit a two-run homer to center field in the bottom of the inning. The Dash won 6-5 on the walk-off.
The Lynchburg Hillcats (29-26) and Winston-Salem Dash (22-32) split the first two games of the four-game weekend series tonight.
Daniel Watts tossed four scoreless innings in his Carolina League debut, and Lynchburg held a 2-0 lead through six frames, but a five-run seventh by the Dash proved to be the difference in a 5-2 Hillcats loss at Calvin Falwell Field Saturday night.

Luis Diaz and Simon Mercedes combined to three-hit the Dash on Monday night, working efficiently and effectively as the Salem Eed Sox cruised to a 7-1 victory, wrapping up a 3-1 series win over Winston-Salem.
The struggling Winston-Salem offense erupted for eight runs in the first inning, only to see Salem nearly fight all the way back. Late in the game, the Salem Red Sox had numerous chances with the tying or go-ahead man at the plate, but the final clutch hit was never discovered, and the Dash hung on to prevail 10-8 on Easter Sunday at BB&T Ballpark.
While Jake Peavy enjoyed a superb start at Fenway Park this afternoon, one of the prospects that Boston parted with to obtain the big league arm helped end Salem’s historic streak on Wednesday evening at LewisGale Field.
