Public exploitation of animals?

Letter from Lily S. Dawkins

I find it absolutely disgusting that Waynesboro would allow such a public display of exploitation of animals (“Photocast: Jungle Fever,” May 21, 2008 AFP). Most of those animals are exotic species that do not belong in traveling cases on display for the general public to amuse themselves. A baby kangaroo definitely does NOT belong in diapers and wrapped in a blanket like a newborn. Animals cannot speak for themselves and it is our civic duty to stand up for the rights of those that cannot.

Lily S. Dawkins resides in Staunton.
