The Waynesboro Heritage Museum will host a free talk by World War II historian Jim Belcher Jr. on Saturday, Aug. 30.

The “Threads of Hope” event is being held in conjunction with a current World War II exhibit titled “Threads of War.” The “Threads of War: Industries, Memories and the People of Waynesboro” exhibit is on display through Nov. 15.

The event will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Belcher is the Japanese-born child of a USS Indianapolis survivor who will share his personal story and message of perseverance, tolerance and hope at 3 p.m.

In addition to Belcher’s talk, there will be families of Waynesboro’s World War II servicemembers on hand to share stories.

A silent auction will be offered with proceeds benefiting the museum.

The Waynesboro Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that aims to preserve Waynesboro’s history.

The museum is located at 420 W. Main St. in downtown Waynesboro.
