Henrico County: 21-year-old dead in motorcycle accident on Interstate 64

A 21-year-old is dead following a motorcycle accident on Interstate 64 in Henrico County Friday night.

Jerrico Lucas Huerena, of Henrico County, died at the scene.

A 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 400, driven by Huerena, attempted to pass a 2018 BMW M4 in the left lane striking the car in the rear. The motorcyclist lost control and struck the guardrail on the left shoulder. He was wearing a helmet, according to Virginia State Police.

The accident occurred 0.2 miles west of Staples Mill Road.

The driver of the BMW, a 30-year-old male from Henrico, was uninjured.

This crash remains under investigation.
