Waynesboro Schools has appointed Jennifer Chance a new Assistant Principal at Kate Collins Middle School.

The announcement highlights the school division’s continued commitment to fostering educational excellence and leadership within its schools.

Jennifer Chance embodies the qualities of a collaborative and visionary leader. Her experience and commitment to fostering a supportive environment for staff, students, and families will make her an invaluable addition to the
administrative team at Kate Collins Middle School,” Waynesboro Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Cassell said.

Chance brings a wealth of experience, dedication and a passion for student success to her new role. She has served Waynesboro Schools since 2013 and held positions as a General Education Teacher at William Perry Elementary School, a math teacher at Kate Collins Middle School, and, most recently, as an Intervention Specialist at Kate Collins. In each role, she demonstrated exceptional skills in curriculum development, student interventions and teacher mentorship.

Chance is a graduate of JMU, where she earned her certification in Educational Leadership, as well as Western Governors University, where she completed both her master’s in Learning and Technology and her bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies. Recognized for her leadership and dedication, she was honored as Teacher of the Year at William Perry Elementary School in 2022.

Chance’s involvement extends beyond the classroom, as she has served in numerous leadership capacities, including
team leader, mentor and committee member for initiatives such as school improvement, behavioral interventions and teacher professional development. Her efforts consistently aim to create a positive, inclusive and effective learning environment.

The Waynesboro School Board looks forward to Chance’s contributions as she joins Principal Marcy Nester and Assistant Principals Dana Folks and Ryan McLaughlin in supporting the academic, social and emotional growth of all students at Kate Collins Middle School.
