Today, Senator Mark Warner’s campaign launched a new television ad, “Virginia First,” featuring former Republican U.S. Senator John Warner. Senator John Warner endorsed Senator Mark Warner for re-election in January 2014. This is the first time Senator John Warner has endorsed a Democrat for elected office in Virginia.

The 30-second ad highlights Senator John Warner’s support for Senator Mark Warner and their shared philosophy of putting party politics aside to find solutions for Virginians. Sharing more than just a last name, both john warner and Mark Warner have spent their careers in the Senate reaching across the aisle to find ways to invest in jobs, protect our military and move Virginia forward.

“I have been fortunate to enjoy a strong partnership, forged both in work and in friendship, with Senator John Warner. I have worked hard in the Senate to uphold the model he set of working across party lines to advance initiatives that benefit Virginians. I am grateful for his support as I seek re-election and will continue to work in a bipartisan way to advance commonsense solutions,” said Senator Mark Warner.

Said John Warner in the ad, “In Congress to get things done you gotta have the guts to cross the aisle and reach bipartisan agreement. That’s what I did, that’s what Mark Warner does today.  While we come from different parties, we both believe in putting Virginia first. I know Mark Warner, he’s decisive, experienced and has courage.”
