The Trump U.S. Attorney in Washington pledged in a letter to private citizen Elon Musk to protect the employees of the unelected oligarch as they continue their illegal takeover of the U.S. Agency for International Development, also known as USAID.
“Let me assure you of this: we will pursue any and all legal action against anyone who impedes your work or threatens your people,” wrote Edward R. Martin Jr., the U.S. Attorney for the Trump/Musk protection racket in D.C., in a letter to Musk dated Feb. 3, which is today, Monday.
What we have there: the U.S. Attorney is telling a private citizen who has sent people on his private payroll to take over a U.S. government agency, created by an act of Congress, funded by congressional appropriations, that he will use federal government resources to protect those involved in an obviously illegal conspiracy to subvert the will of Congress and the American people.
Secretary of State Mark Rubio, a good buddy of one of our Vichy Democrat senators from Virginia, Mark Warner, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, who of course voted to confirm Rubio to the Cabinet post, is part and parcel to the criminal conspiracy.
On Monday, Rubio announced that he is the acting director of USAID, which was created by Congress as an independent body, meaning, no, Rubio can’t just make it part of the State Department, which he is trying to do, without congressional authorization, and declare himself the boss.
And when I say this is something that Rubio is trying to do, it’s really Musk, who, again, is a private citizen, has no authority to do anything, but said in a Twitter Spaces discussion on Monday that he had been given the authority by Trump, with respect to USAID, to “shut it down.”
Musk does not have any authority to do anything other than build EVs and rockets that burst into flames when the wind changes direction; Rubio, with respect to USAID, doesn’t have the authority to declare himself its acting director.
Trump doesn’t have the authority to unilaterally close down a congressionally-created independent body.

Warner hasn’t had anything to say about any of this, at this writing, though he did go on CBS on Sunday morning to talk excitedly about how Trump’s tariffs on Mexico, now on pause, were going to make the price of avocados go up ahead of the Super Bowl, because, you know, guac, and all.
At least our guy is on the ball on what’s important.
