Staunton man dead after car rolls down embankment in Rockbridge County

A Staunton man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Rockbridge County on Thursday night.

John Edward Nelson Young, 75, was transported to Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital where he later died.

The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on Route 60 at the intersection of Westley Chapel Road.

Young’s 2008 Buick Lucerne ran off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and then rolled several times over an embankment, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash remains under investigation.
