Gausman outduels Porcello: Orioles top Red Sox, 1-0

Kevin Gausman pitched eight shutout innings to push Baltimore to a 1-0 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.

Gausman (8-10, 3.43 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) gave up four hits, striking out six and walking one. Zach Britton (43 saves/43 opportunities, 0.61 ERA, 0.83 WHIP) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to close out the win.

Mark Trumbo (.250/.312/.523, 42 HR, 100 RBI) provided the offense with a solo homer in the second off Rick Porcello (20-4, 3.12 ERA, 1.00 WHIP).

The win closes the O’s (80-65) to within a game of Boston (81-64) in the AL East.
