WINNER: Virginia Tech wins in Charlottesville for the first time since before I was born
I had no idea it had been that long, incidentally.
And I like that Jeff Allen kid. He’s going to be a star.
ASCENDING: Virginia Tech
DESCENDING: Virginia, obviously

LOSER: Everybody is leaving the UVa. football ship, or so it seems
Jameel Sewell and Chris Cook aren’t in school this semester – and are apparently done at Virginia.
Defensive coordinator Mike London is also on the way out – to the head-coaching job at Richmond.
I don’t know that the news is all bad – Peter Lalich will be an upgrade at QB, and Al Groh will have somebody solid in place on D before the fall.
ASCENDING: Peter Lalich
DESCENDING: Jameel Sewell, Chris Cook

LOSER: It ain’t much better down at Tech
Bud Foster seems to want out. Brandon Flowers is headed out.
Branden Ore and Macho Harris thought about it, then decided to come back.
A lot is happening down in Blacksburg, and I’m still trying to make sense of it all.
ASCENDING: Bud Foster’s job prospects
HOLDING PATTERN: Bud Foster’s defense in 2008
DESCENDING: Hopes of avoiding another QB controversy in ’08
