The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce announced today that Frank Tamberrino has been selected to serve as the organization’s president and chief executive officer. He will begin his role as CEO in December 2009.

Tamberrino has 25 years of experience in the field of economic and community development and organizational management. He has served as the president of the Maury Alliance in Columbia, Tenn., since 2000. The Alliance is a public–private sector alliance resulting from the merger of three chambers of commerce and the economic development council. In this position, he established a new multifaceted partnership for economic community development in a growing area south of Nashville.

Frank has a deep appreciation for the Harrisonburg-Rockingham area. He grew up near Richmond, and has family that lives throughout the state. He received a BA in urban affairs and a masters degree in urban and regional planning from Virginia Tech.

“I believe that everyone who lives in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County already knows that it is a special place,” said Tamberrino. “The challenge ahead is finding ways to grow responsibly, offering economic opportunity and the chance to succeed – all while preserving the quality of life that makes the area inviting and accommodating. I look forward to using my time and talent to help promote the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce as a community partner and as leader in the future.”

A seven-member search committee considered more than 50 applicants for the position.

Tom Mendez, chair of the search committee, said, “We have great confidence in Frank’s leadership ability. His chamber experience and track record in building community partnerships will allow for an easy transition, and his vision will set the stage for a strong future.”
