WWE Battleground: Match Ratings

WWE_Battleground_2015_Official_PosterSeth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar: WWE Title: N/A (no finish). Good drama buildup for what is to come between Lesnar and Undertaker, but the match could have used a definitive end, even if it was just going to be ‘Taker laying Rollins on top of Lesnar for the pin, the ref signaling no-contest, something. The show just ended, which is a weak way to close out a show.

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens: U.S. Title Match: 8/10. This one was destined for 10/10 before the weak ending that had Cena forcing a tapout from Owens after hitting three AAs, including a rare AA from the top rope, that Owens kicked out of. So he can kick out of multiple AAs, but needs to tap out of a submission hold that everybody gets out of? No, that’s poor.

Triple Threat Divas Match: Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Brie Bella: 6/10. Charlotte gets the win with the FIgure-8 on Brie Bella. Nice match. Lots of good spots, near-falls. Sasha Banks had her Bank Statement on Charlotte, then we get the Figure-8 from Charlotte. The NXT stars show they belong. Good work.

Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns: 7/10. Bray Wyatt gets the win with outside interference from Luke Harper. The Wyatt Family is getting back together? Good move if so.

WWE Tag Team Title Match: Prime Time Players vs. A New Day: 5/10. Clean fall for the Prime Time Players. Titus O’Neil pins Big E after hitting his modified power bomb. Nothing remarkable.

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus: 6/10. Orton gets the win with an RKO “out of nowhere,” according to the announce crew. Sheamus, Mr. Money in the Bank, does the job in the opener. Not a lot of logic there. So that’s a future champ? (Probably not. They’re going to take that briefcase from him before the end of the year.)
