Mike-LondonYou thought UVA paying Mike London $2.5 million a year to coach the Cavs to one losing season after another. USA Today would say you were understating how much it costs to aspire to mediocrity.

The paper published the 2015 salaries of FBS coaches. The list is topped by Alabama head coach Nick Saban, who is making $7,087,481 this year. First-year Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is second at $7,004,000.

London is 29th on the list, with total compensation in 2015 at $3,198,400.

Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer is 37th with total compensation of $2,775,925.

The highest-paid coach in the ACC is Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher, at $5,150,000.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is making $3,305,200.

London’s compensation ranks third in the ACC.

London is 24-41 overall in five-plus years at Virginia, with an 11-29 record in ACC play.
