A 24-year-old Virginia man is dead after his motorcycle struck a Tesla in Fauquier County on Thursday night.

Zachary R. Carlson, 24, of Midland, died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

Virginia State Police is investigating the two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 8:54 p.m. on Route 17 (Marsh Road), three-tenths of a mile north of Route 813 (Goldvein Road) in Fauquier County.

Carlson’s 2024 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Route 17 at a high rate of speed when it collided with an eastbound 2022 Tesla Model 3, which was pulling into a private drive from a crossover.

The driver of the Tesla, a 60-year-old man from Goldvein, was transported to Fauquier Health for treatment of minor injuries.
