A Richmond woman is dead after a three-vehicle accident on Halloween at 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 95. The fatal accident occurred on northbound I-95 at the 81.5 mile marker in Henrico County.

Elisabeth Mary Rumford, 28, of Richmond, died at the scene.

According to Virginia State Police, Rumford crashed into the rear of a Ram 3500 service truck that was stopped in traffic. The Ram truck then hit a 2016 Ford pickup.

The investigation shows Rumford had been traveling in the left lane and failed to notice traffic stopping due to an accident.

The driver of the Ram was identified as a 45-year-old male from Petersburg. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The driver of the Ford pickup was uninjured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.
