The new year got off to a bumpy start for students and staff at Waynesboro High School today after a teen boy was arrested for allegedly making a bomb threat.

According to a joint statement from the Waynesboro Police Department and Waynesboro Public Schools on social media, there was no interruption to school operations, and all students and staff are safe.

The 15-year-old male has been charged for making threats to bomb under Virginia Code section §18.2-83. Following the arrest, the juvenile was released to his parents.

According to the statement, at 12:18 p.m., the Waynesboro Police Department responded to the threat. The collaboration with responding officers led to the swift identification, isolation and securing of the individual responsible for the alleged threat.
