Lynchburg Police: Man dead after crashing motorcycle on U.S. 501 on Sunday

A male motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Sunday on U.S. 501 in Lynchburg.

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating the fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 5:21 p.m.

The name of the victim has not been released. He died at the scene, according to police.

Officers from the LPD and personnel from the Lynchburg Fire Department responded to the crash in the southbound lanes of U.S. 501, just before the Wards Road exit.

The cause of the accident remains under active investigation by the Lynchburg Police Department.
