Waynesboro Generals ranked in national poll

Waynesboro is one of three Valley League teams ranked in the PG/Cross Checker national poll.

The Generals, currently first place in the South Division with a 17-8 record, were ranked 29th in the poll, which ranks teams in summer leagues across the country.

Harrisonburg, second place in the South Division with a 17-10 record, is 22nd in the poll. Winchester, tops in the North Division with a 20-9 record, is 14th.

Waynesboro won 8-6 at Winchester Monday night to sweep the season series with the Royals. The Generals had topped Winchester 14-1 in Waynesboro on June 20.

The Generals had been ranked 23rd in the poll a week earlier and somehow dropped six spots after going 3-1 in the ranking week.

Harwich (Mass.) of the Cape Cod League, is the No. 1 team. The Mariners are one of six CCL team ranked in the top 30.
