lowerflagWith more than 60 police officers, reserves and administration staff flanking a podium, the Waynesboro Police Department stood before the media as a show of support for one of their own, Kevin Quick, whose investigation shifted to a death investigation almost one week from his disappearance.

“To the law enforcement community that is grieving with Kevin Quick’s family and friends, I ask that you continue to honor Kevin’s memory and let his tragic loss serve as a reminder that the work we have dedicated our lives to is not unfinished,” said Waynesboro Police Department Chief Michael Wilhelm at a news conference late Friday afternoon.

The hosts of the news conference, Fishburne Military School, lowered the flag to half staff at the beginning of the news conference to honor Kevin Quick, 45, an auxiliary captain with the Waynesboro Police Department, who went missing Jan. 31.

“To the citizens of Waynesboro and other jurisdictions across the Commonwealth and beyond, I urge you to continue to support the law enforcement community as we greive the loss of our brother Kevin,” Wilhelm said.

“As we work through this diffiult time, I would encourage all of you to reach out to those who understand our struggles and offer them support as well. No one can make it though this alone,” he said. “We must continue to support Kevin’s family, his friends, and our brothers and sisters from our law enforcement family.”
