Washington Nationals top New York Mets, 7-1

washington nationalsA two-run Anthony Rendon single broke a fifth-inning tie and pushed the Washington Nationals to a 7-1 win over the New York Mets on Wednesday.

The Nats (24-16) are a game and a half up on the Mets (22-17) in the National League East, and the series between the rivals is tied at a game apiece, with a rubber game set for Thursday.

Daniel Murphy had an RBI single and a sac fly, and Wilson Ramos had a two-run single in the ninth.

Gio Gonzalez (3-1, 1.86 ERA) gave up a run on five hits in six and a third innings, striking out five and walking one.

Bryce Harper walked four times in five plate appearances.

Jayson Werth was 2-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored.
