This item, about the landing spots for former UVA Football standouts and assistant coaches Anthony Poindexter and Marques Hagans, doesn’t qualify as news, since I’m reporting here on happenings from a few weeks back now.

I just stumbled onto their whereabouts today, so, it’s news to me.

First, to Poindexter: he landed at Tennessee as the secondary coach/co-defensive coordinator, a similar position to the one that he’d had at Penn State under James Franklin, who was fired six games into the 2025 season, and is now the head coach at Virginia Tech.

Dex was safeties coach and co-DC at Penn State under Franklin.

He was hired at UT on Jan. 2.

Hagans, the wide receivers coach at Penn State under Franklin, is now at Michigan as the assistant wide receivers coach, on the staff of new UM coach Kyle Whittingham.

Assistant wide receivers coach.

Ouch.

I still think of Hagans as a future P4 head coach.

Being an assistant position coach is a rebuilding job for Hagans.

The offensive coordinator at Michigan is Jason Beck, who was the QB coach at Virginia from 2016-2021, on the staff of Bronco Mendenhall.

Nice of Beck to throw our guy a bone here.

The Hagans hire was made official on Jan. 1.

For my next trick, I’m just now learning that the Allies wrapped up World War II.

I should have something on that in the next few days.
