
“Malcolm is an important part of the program’s future, so the plan to redshirt him will allow for his foot to fully recover,” Bennett said. “He will continue to push hard in his recovery during this season.”
Brogdon played in Virginia’s first 28 games as a freshman in 2011-12. He averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 39.6 percent (63-159) from the field and 80 percent (40-50) from the free-throw line. Brogdon scored in double figures five times.
Brogdon scored a season-high 16 points in Virginia’s 70-58 victory over then-No. 14 Michigan on Nov. 29. His scoring high in an Atlantic Coast Conference game last season was 14 points in UVa’s 71-44 win over Maryland on Feb. 18.
