Barack Obama has a healthy six-point lead in the latest Gallup daily tracking poll, and a Survey USA poll has the race between Obama and John McCain in Virginia all square.

Meanwhile, Mark Warner continues to enjoy a huge lead over Jim Gilmore in the battle of ex-governors running for the United States Senate.

Warner leads Gilmore by a 58 percent-to-34 percent margin, according to the Survey USA poll conducted for WDBJ-7 in Roanoke that was released on Monday. That polling organization had McCain with a slight one-point lead over Obama in Virginia, 48 percent to 47 percent, though that gap was within the poll’s 3.9 percent margin of error.

The lead for Obama in the Gallup poll released this morning had Obama up by a 48 percent-to-42 percent margin.
