Orioles miss chance to make up ground in AL wild-card race

UVA alum Tyler Wilson was roughed up in his third MLB start, and the Baltimore Orioles couldn’t rally in the late innings in an 8-6 loss at Tampa Bay on Friday night.

Wilson (2-2, 3.72 ERA) gave up six runs on eight hits in four and a third innings, striking out one and walking two.

Steve Pearce hit two home runs for Baltimore, his 12^th and 13^th of the season, and J.J. Hardy hit his eight homer of the year for the O’s (72-75), who remain five games back of the second wild-card spot in the American League.
