One dead in fiery tractor trailer accident on I-66, Route 522 in Warren County

One person is dead after a crash this afternoon on Interstate 66 in Warren County, according to Virginia State Police.

The two-vehicle crash shut down I-66 for approximately two hours. Route 522 northbound remains closed.

VSP responded to the fiery accident at the six-mile marker on I-66 at 1:02 p.m.

The collision occurred between a westbound passenger vehicle and a westbound tractor trailer which caused the tractor trailer to run off the roadway and come to rest on Route 522.

The tractor trailer then caught fire, according to VSP.

No names have been released in the accident.
