Some observations from UVa.’s 57-43 win over Northern Iowa on Saturday.

Justin Anderson: The Man Child took over at times, leading the team in scoring with 16, but it wasn’t just his points. He hit three three-pointers, scored in the lane on a runner, had a highlight-reel assist on a layup by Akil Mitchell, and two cringe-inducing blocked shots on layup attempts by UNI players on fast breaks. This is what Anderson does for UVa.: a little bit of everything.
Whither Joe Harris: It was another ho-hum night for the 2012-2013 first-team All-ACC guard. Twelve points on 4-of-11 shooting, just 1-of-7 from three-point range, just 3-of-5 from the foul line. Harris hasn’t been the same in terms of productivity since his 36-point effort in the upset win over Duke in February.
Telling stat: UNI had just three assists on 19 made baskets. Three. The magic number. You’re not going to win a lot of games getting three assists as a team in 40 minutes.
