atlantic coast pipeline jonathan mingle gaslight On Friday, September 13, 2024, Third Act Virginia will host Jonathan Mingle, author of “Gaslight: The Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the Fight for America’s Energy Future.”

Individuals who were on the front lines and instrumental in the fight against the pipeline will also speak. The event will be held at McIntire Park picnic shelter in Charlottesville at 2 p.m.

Members of the Union Hill Community will talk about their critical work in preventing the pipeline. As a consequence of their tireless organizing efforts, more than 1,000 people came to an event with Al Gore and Rev. William Barber in Buckingham County.

Deborah Kushner will also speak about organizing efforts to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline and the effect on the residents in its path.

Mingle is a noted author and independent journalist who writes about the science and politics of climate change, energy, technology, public health and more for the New York Review of Books, New York Times, Slate and Yale Environment 360. His first book was “Fire and Ice: Soot, Solidarity and Survival on the Roof of the World.”

Bill McKibben notes that “Gaslight” is: “a stirring account of an epic battle – and a profound glimpse into this crucial moment when the world is poised between two energy systems. This fine book makes the biggest questions on our planet very local, immediate and understandable.”

To find the shelter at McIntire Park, park in the YMCA lot and walk down the hill.
