#2 UVA tops Virginia Tech, 69-57, claims share of ACC title

Clash_smallSecond-ranked UVA broke open a close game with a late 12-0 run to defeat Virginia Tech, 69-57, and claim a share of the Cavs’ second straight ACC regular-season title.

Virginia (27-1, 15-1 ACC) also matched its best start in school history through 28 games, a mark that had dated back to the 1981-1982 season.

The Hokies (10-19, 2-14 ACC) kept it close for a while, trailing 28-24 at the half and then closing to 50-46 after cutting into a 13-point second-half deficit with a 13-4 run over a 5:41 stretch.

A Malcolm Brogdon three-pointer with 7:00 to go pushed the lead back to seven, and ignited the 12-0 Cavalanche over the next 3:32 that put the game away.
