Virginia State Police investigating Augusta County motorcycle crash

policecar3Virginia State Police Trooper G.W. Clifton is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Augusta County. The crash occurred at12:45 p.m. Wednesday (May 15, 2013) on Route 11 at the Interstate 81 interchange for Exit 213/Greenville. A 2006 Honda Shadow motorcycle was traveling north on Route 11. According to a witness, the motorcycle swerved to the left to avoid a vehicle that pulled into its lane. The motorcyclist lost control of the bike and laid it down in the highway. The motorcyclist, Charles W. Brooks Jr., 50, of Greenville, was flown to UVA Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The other vehicle was not involved in the crash and left the scene. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is asked to please contact state police at 434-352-7128. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
