Virginia took the lead on a pair of free throws from Latasha Lattimore with 1:43 to go, but a pair of UVA turnovers and an NC State offensive rebound allowed the Pack to post the 73-68 win.

The Cavaliers (11-8, 3-4 ACC) were looking for their third road win in the past two weeks, and this one was tight all the way – neither team led by more than five on the afternoon in Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh.

After Lattimore’s free throws, #21 NC State (14-4, 6-1 ACC) got the lead back on a layup by Madison Hayes with 1:06 left.

Virginia worked the ball in the halfcourt looking for a good shot on its next possession, but a Paris Clark turnover gave State the ball back with 39 ticks on the clock.

Hayes missed a layup with 12 seconds to go, but she snared the offensive board, and Aziaha James made both ends of the two-shot foul with eight seconds left to get the lead to three.

Virginia had a chance to get up a possible game-tying three, but Olivia McGhee turned the ball over with a second left.

Hayes made two free throws to give us the final margin.

Valiant effort from the ‘Hoos, who got 21 points and nine rebounds from Lattimore, and 19 points, five rebounds and four assists from Kymora Johnson.
