Winter Storm Warning: A foot of snow possible in Shenandoah Valley

snow-plow-headerThe National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a forecast of up to a foot of snow possible in Augusta County, Staunton, Waynesboro and most of the Shenandoah Valley.

The warning extends into Central Virginia, with forecasts calling for up to 15 inches of snow at elevations higher than 2,000 feet.

The snow is expected to overspread the region between 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and be at its heaviest overnight Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The snow is expected to taper off late Thursday afternoon.
