
The Green and Gold limited the Pirates to just 33.3 percent shooting, and led by as much as 27 points in the second half of a game it controlled throughout. W&M won for the fourth time in its first five games, including three contests against 2015 NCAA Tournament teams, while Hampton, which won the MEAC last season, fell to 2-2.
Tarpey pulled down a career-high 17 points, the most for a Tribe player in 20 years, while tallying 13 points, three assists, three blocked shots and three steals. Prewitt shared team-high scoring honors with junior Daniel Dixon as both players poured in 22 points.
Prewitt added 10 rebounds for his second career double-double, and with Tarpey, became the first pair of Tribe teammates to register a double-double in the same game since 2004. Prewitt was 7-of-11 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range, to go along with 6-of-7 from the free throw line. For the second straight game, Dixon topped the 20-point mark, finishing 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-7 from 3-point range. He also blocked a career-high five shots, and as the team, the Tribe finished with 13 rejections, the fourth most in school history.
