August 29 – September 27, Exhibit: Virginia Women in History
This special exhibit from the Library of Virginia recognizes and celebrates eight women—past and present—for their accomplishments in all walks of life. This year’s exhibit includes poet Rita Dove and educator Isabella Gibbons, both from Charlottesville.

September is Library Card Sign-up Month
Waynesboro Public library is joining with the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide for Library Card Sign-up Month, to encourage parents, caregivers and students to obtain a free library card that will save them money while reaping rewards in academic achievement and lifelong learning more information about how to sign up for a library card, visit please the Waynesboro Public library in person or online at WaynesboroPublicLibrary.org.

Wednesday, September 5, 12 p.m., Midday Music: Kristen Hughes.
Singer-songwriter Kristin Hughes performs at the library for the first time, sharing both original songs and covers with vocals, electric guitar and a loop pedal. Light lunch provided.

Tuesday, September 11, 11 a.m., Apple Devices: iPhones & iPads.
An introduction to your iPhone or iPad, covering including navigation, settings, downloading apps and care of your device. Please bring your Apple device to this class. Advanced registration required.

Friday, September 21, 11 a.m., Intro to Word.
Learn how to create documents and navigate the ribbon to format and align text, adjust spacing and check spelling with Microsoft Word. Advance registration required.

Saturday, September 29, at 10:30 a.m., Build Your Cat a Castle.
Come use our supplies to build your cat (or other small pet) a fun castle, inspired by the book Cat Castles by Carin Oliver. Families and adults welcome. Adults will use the sharp tools.

Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale

A regional tradition, the Friends of the Library’s Annual Book Sale includes thousands of gently used books for all ages, including fiction, nonfiction, picture books, paperback books, children’s chapter books, teen reads, and a section of rare and antique books. There is something for everyone and prices are 50¢ to $10 for regular books and $10 to $100 for rare and collectible books.

Recurring Programs

Friday, September 7 & September 28, Friday at 6:30 p.m., Movie Night at the Library. See new releases on the big screen. Free popcorn and drinks are provided.

Monthly- Second Thursdays at 4 p.m., Book Club. Read a novel, then meet with others to discuss. Ask at the circulation desk to check out a copy of the book-of-the-month.

Monthly- Fourth Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Nonfiction Book Club. Our new nonfiction book club will read and discuss nonfiction books. Ask for your copy at the circulation desk or check out our e-library.

Weekly

Monday

  • 10:00 am-12:00 p.m., Chat & Play. provides interactive play for your little one and conversation for you. Open to children ages 0-6 and their caregivers.
  • 4:00 p.m., WPL Knitters. Bring your materials and socialize with other knitters.

Tuesday

  • 6:30 p.m., Story Night & Happy Tales. A story, a bedtime snack, and a chance to practice those reading skills with friendly, attentive therapy dogs from Positive Paws.

Wednesday

  • 9:30 a.m., Mother Goose Time is an interactive program featuring songs, fingerplays, books, movements, and nursery rhymes for children from birth through age three and their caregivers.
  • 10:30 a.m., Story Time features books, stories, songs, puppets, flannel board activities, and crafts for children ages three through five accompanied by an adult.
  • 4:00 p.m., Teen Volunteer Club. Need volunteer hours? Start here. Come ready to be assigned a library project, or bring an idea for a project of your own. Middle & high school. Snacks provided.

Thursday

  • 9:30 a.m., Mother Goose Time is an interactive program featuring songs, finger-plays, books, movements, and nursery rhymes for children from birth through age three and their caregivers.
  • 10:30 a.m., Story Time features books, stories, songs, puppets, flannel board activities, and crafts for children ages three through five accompanied by an adult.
  • 4:00 p.m., Masterminds. Full STEAM ahead! Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math are the waves of the future. (ages 5-12) are invited to take part in fun experiments and interactive lessons. Activities will vary but fun is guaranteed.
  • 4:00 p.m., Junior Masterminds is perfect for preschoolers who want to go full STEAM ahead. It is focused mainly on building, with a scientific flair. If you are too young for Masterminds (ages 0-5) this program is for you.
