A Staunton man is in custody after a pursuit that began in Augusta County and ended with a crash inside the Staunton city limits on Thursday.

Adam Tyler Bodge, 27, of Staunton, became the focus of a pursuit after an Augusta County sheriff’s deputy observed the motorcycle he was driving on Route 262 passing vehicles across a double yellow line.

Per a release from the sheriff’s office, the deputy activated the emergency equipment and attempted to stop the motorcycle; the driver looked back, acknowledged the deputy, but refused to stop.

The motorcycle continued onto Shutterlee Mill Road, where it crashed, and Bodge fled from the scene on foot.

The deputy pursued him to the Engleside Apartments, where Bodge was taken into custody.

In addition to charges from the pursuit, the license plate displayed on the motorcycle was reported stolen from Harrisonburg, and the motorcycle itself was reported stolen from Fairfax County, so, there are additional charges there.

Bodge sustained a leg injury during the crash and was transported to Augusta Health by the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad. He was medically cleared and released from the hospital, where he was arrested and transported to the Middle River Regional Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
