Waynesboro is getting a new Wawa: Like we need another all-night gas station

Wawa is opening another all-night gas station in Waynesboro this week; great, something else that people like me trying to get people’s attention will have to compete with.

Me personally, I don’t get the location – at the intersection of Hopeman Parkway and West Main Street – not downtown, not near the interstate, pretty much in no-man’s land, business-wise.

Which suggests to me, it’ll be all local traffic.

This, for a company that spends in the range of $7.5 million on its spanking-new all-night gas stations.

That seems like a lot of money, just to get the locals to stop in for a fill-up and a breakfast sandwich.

Imagine the volume they’re going to need to make the initial investment back.

Especially considering, they’re not the only game in town – we already have two 24-hour Sheetzes, and at least three other gas stations that are open all night.

Meh, it’s not my money.

The big grand opening for the new Wawa is on Thursday at 8 a.m.

The first 100 customers get free T-shirts, presumably featuring a Wawa logo.
