staunton virginiaLinda Little, Staunton’s Clerk of Council, was recently named the 2015 Clerk of the Year for Region III by the Virginia Municipal Clerks Association (VCMA).

Region III of the VMCA encompasses 36 localities, stretching as far west as Monterey and as far north as Winchester. Little was nominated for the award by her fellow VCMA Region III members and received the most nominations this year.

Amy Keller, director of the VCMA Region III chapter, said Little has been a dynamic and valuable member of the organization over the last year, and the award is representative of Little’s collective efforts during 2015.

“She’s very faithful, participatory and always willing to help,” Keller said. “Linda is an integral part of our network. We know that we can rely on her to share her expertise, counsel, ideas and solutions to the issues and responsibilities we often encounter.”

Little has been with the City for nearly 10 years. She serves as both a paralegal to City Attorney Douglas Guynn and the City’s clerk of council. Before joining the City,

Little worked for 29 years in a number of administrative roles, including deputy clerk at a general district court; legal assistant; paralegal; planning and zoning agent and secretary.
