UVA Athletics: Promotions for Tony Belt, Ronnie Wideman to deputy AD posts

University of Virginia Director of Athletics Carla Williams announced on Friday that Tony Belt and Ronnie Wideman had been promoted to deputy athletics director jobs.

Belt serves as sport administrator for the men’s and women’s swimming program, and the field hockey program.

Belt, a Louisville alum, also assists with the administration of the UVA Football program, leading the department’s efforts in admissions, and provides strategic oversight of student enrollment, roster management and campus partnerships.

Wideman, a Washington State alum, transitioned into senior administration in 2025 after serving the UVA Basketball program as an associate athletics director for administration and operations for 16 years.

As deputy athletics director, Wideman serves as UVA’s lead cap manager, as well as sport administrator and assistant general manager for men’s basketball, general manager for women’s basketball and Olympic sports.

Wideman also assists with the administration of the volleyball program.
