Update: Sheriff’s Office has ID’d two juveniles in Beverley Manor Middle School threats

Update: Sunday, 2:14 p.m. The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has identified two juveniles responsible for the social media posts targeting Beverley Manor Middle School.

Authorities spoke to the juveniles and their parents on Friday. The Juvenile Intake 25th District Court Services Unit was notified about the incident, and the Sheriff’s Office will be seeking criminal petitions against both of the offenders.

The numerous threats that targeted the middle school originated from two students that posted social media content independently and did not collaborate with one another. Despite the fact that both offenders utilized similar social media posts to disrupt the student body and school operations, both cases were completely isolated incidents and were not affiliated.

“The ACSO investigation has concluded, and there is no threat to the school at this time,” said Sheriff Donald L. Smith.

There will be additional deputies assigned to the middle school on Monday in order for students, staff, and parents to feel safe.

 

First report: Saturday, 8:45 a.m. Several social media posts targeting Beverely Manor Middle School are the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

A separate incident launched an after-hours investigation on Thursday after it was determined a student brought a Nerf gun to the school. The Augusta County School Board will be handling the disciplinary action as a result of this incident.

A second media post was reported Friday morning related to a post that surfaced earlier in the week.

“The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is currently working to identify where the post(s) originated from and fully intends to place criminal charges accordingly,” Sheriff Donald Smith said.

The ACSO, Augusta County Superintendent’s Office and Beverley Manor Middle School administration are working together to determine where these social media posts have originated.

The Sheriff’s Office is currently actively working the numerous social media posts that were circulating Friday evening.
