Waynesboro, Charlottesville, Albemarle police serve warrants in gun violence crackdown

Police served search warrants in Waynesboro, Albemarle County and Charlottesville on Wednesday in an ongoing regional gun violence investigation.

Evidence and firearms were recovered that will be processed to determine if they are related to any of the recent gun violence events in the community.

“Today’s joint operation between our department and the city underscores our commitment to combat gun violence in our community,” said Col. Sean Reeves, Albemarle County police chief. “We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our residents, and we will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt criminal activity as these investigations continue.”

ACPD was joined by the Charlottesville Police Department and Virginia State Police in the sweep.

“Today’s operation stands as a powerful testament to the collaborative efforts among area law enforcement to combat gun violence in our region,” said Michael Kochis, Charlottesville police chief. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to tirelessly pursue justice and hold accountable those who prey on our community.”

Search warrants were executed in the following areas


  • 800 block of Hardy Drive, Charlottesville
  • 300 block of Riverside Avenue, Charlottesville
  • 1000 block of South 1st Street, Charlottesville
  • 100 block of Woodgate Court, Albemarle County
  • City of Waynesboro, no address provided

There were no arrests made, according to an Albemarle County public information officer.

The investigation is ongoing.
