Rockingham County woman killed in two-vehicle crash; infant passenger not injured

A Rockingham County woman is dead from injuries in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Friday morning.

Danielle Smith, 28, of Dayton, died at a local hospital, per reporting from the Virginia State Police.

Smith was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty northbound on Coopers Mountain Road at 8:15 a.m. when her vehicle crossed the middle of the road and struck a southbound 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 

An infant passenger in the Jeep Liberty did not appear to have any injuries but was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
