One person dead, four injured, including two children, in Scott County crash

One person is dead, and four others injured, including two children, in a two-vehicle accident on Saturday on Route 72 in Scott County.

According to Virginia State Police, a 2019 Kia Optima was heading northbound on Route 72 around noon on Saturday when the Kia crossed the centerline and struck a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 head-on.

The Dodge Ram then caught fire after the crash.

The driver of the Kia, James B. Robbins, 71, of Dungannon, died at the scene.  He was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, Brevin M. Dooley, 26, of Gate City, suffered serious injuries, as well as an adult passenger, Kristina C. Dooley, 25.

Two juvenile passengers also suffered serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
