Albemarle County is working to streamline its community development services through a new web-based portal.

Launched on Jan. 13, Civic Access allows users to search for parcels, apply for permits, request inspections, pay invoices and track applications in real-time.

The portal, powered by Tyler Technologies’ Enterprise Permitting & Licensing, replaces the previous system and represents a significant step forward in improving service delivery.

“By leveraging technology like Civic Access, we’re not only improving efficiency within our workforce, but we’re also enabling faster, more reliable service delivery to our community,” said Kristy Shifflett, Albemarle County’s chief operations officer. “This system allows our team to focus on providing high-quality support while ensuring processes are handled with greater accuracy and speed.”

The implementation of Civic Access is part of the county’s strategic commitment to modernize business processes to better meet customer service demands.

“This portal provides the community with an easy-to-use system for managing community development needs,” said Jodie Filardo, the county’s director of community development. “Civic Access offers residents and businesses a convenient way to interact with community development services, making processes more transparent and easier to navigate.”

Applications previously submitted through CountyView have been successfully transitioned to the new system, which is now operational.

Users may access Civic Access through the Albemarle County website.
