Virginia State Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Route 645, less than a mile north of Route 33 in Greene County, at 9:52 a.m. Saturday.

The 2008 Buell 1125R motorcycle involved in the accident had been reported stolen out of Augusta County a week prior to the accident.

The motorcycle was traveling north on Route 645 when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a ditch. The driver, Edward L. Taylor III, 27, of Scottsville, Va., was thrown from the bike.

Taylor died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
