Lynchburg VDOT District Traffic Alert: Feb. 15-21

Amherst County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Traffic controls and flaggers in use during construction. Use caution and expect delays. Completion – April 21, 2017.

Route 643 over Horsley Creek and Route 635 connection – Thru 10/15/15, bridge replacement and approach work.  Traffic control devices and flaggers in use. Use caution; expect delays.

 

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Buckingham County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 659 over Stadon Creek – Road closed from 2/9/15 – 2/27/15 for culvert replacement. Motorists may use Routes 20, 649 and 658 to detour.

Andersonville AHQ – Crews will boom axe at various locations.

Dillwyn AHQ – Crews will make drainage repairs on secondary routes.

Various – Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 643 over Falling River – Through 7/22/16, bridge replacement and approach work.  Traffic control devices and flaggers in use. Use caution; expect delays.

Route 1501 over Branch of Dreaming Creek – Road closed 2/23/15 – 3/13/15 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 739 and 682 to and from Route1501.

 

Charlotte County:  Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 637 over Reynolds Creek – Road will be closed from 2/9-2/20/15 for timber deck replacement. Detour using Rt. 606, 634, 611, 625 and back to Rt. 637.

Route 675 over Cub Creek (Rt. 40 – Poor House Rd) – Road closed; temporary signal for bridge replacement. Est. comp. 9/28/15.

Craftons Gate – Crews will weed and cut brush.

Phenix – Crews will limb trees, clean ditch lines and add shoulder stone.

Various secondary routes–Crews will work surfaces, boom axe and respond to customers.

 

Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Various – Crews will work surfaces, repair shoulders, cut brush and respond to customers.

 

Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 49 over Aaron’s Creek (near Halifax/Mecklenburg line) – Road closed 1/26/15 – 6/17/16 for bridge replacement.

Route 360 (Bethel) and various locations in Cluster Springs and Volens– Crews will work shoulders.

Route 637 (Rt. 638 – 670) over SouthFork Buffalo Creek– Road closed 2/215 – 2/20/15 for replacement of timber deck and substructure repairs. Detour via Routes 638, 40 and 670 to and from 637.

Route 705 (Rt. 706 – Rt. 704) over Stokes Creek – Road closed 2/16/15-3/6/15 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 704, 658 and 706 to and from Route 705.

Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will boom axe. 

Rondo AHQ – Crews will cut limbs on secondary routes.

Volens AHQ -Crews will cut right of way. 

Various – Crews will work surfaces and respond to customer concerns.

 

Nelson County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 672 over East Branch- Road closed to through traffic 1/26 -2/20 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 673, 56, 655 to and from 672.

 

Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 713 (701-662) over Sandy Creek – Road closed 1/12-4/3/15, for structure replacement. Detour in place.

Route 726 – Be alert to improvements, including turn lanes for local and school traffic. Signs and other traffic control devices in place. Estimated completion April 29, 2016.

Various – Crews will boom axe, work shoulders, ditches and other surfaces, clean roadsides and respond to customer concerns.

 

Prince Edward County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 623 –Bridge replacement over NS and Buckingham Branch Railroads. Est. comp. 6/30/15.

Various – Crews will clean roadsides, make surface and shoulder repairs, cut brush and respond to customer.

 

District-wide activities:

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance.
