Lynchburg VDOT District Traffic Alert

Amherst County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Traffic controls and flaggers in use during construction. Use caution and expect delays. Completion – April 21, 2017.

Route 643 over Horsley Creek and Route 635 connection – Thru 10/15/15, bridge replacement and approach work.  Traffic control devices and flaggers in use. Use caution; expect delays.

 

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 611 over Wreck Island Creek – Road closed 3/2-3/20/15 for timber deck replacement. Detour via Routes 666, 608, and 667.

 

Buckingham County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Andersonville AHQ – Crews will boom axe.

Dillwyn AHQ – Crews will make drainage repairs on secondary routes.

Various – Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 643 over Falling River – Through 7/22/16, bridge replacement and approach work.

Traffic control devices and flaggers in use. Use caution; expect delays.

Route 663 over Button Creek – Road will be closed 3/16-5/22/15 for structure replacement. Detour via: Routes 651, 24 and 615.

Route 1501 over Branch of Dreaming Creek – Road closed 5/4-5/22/15 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 739 and 682 to and from Route1501.

 

Charlotte County:  Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 637 over Reynolds Creek – Road closed for timber deck replacement. Detour using Rt. 606, 634, 611, 625 and back to Rt. 637.

Route 631 over Tanyard Branch –Closed 3/9-3/27/15 for culvert replacement. Detour: Routes 92 and 15.

Route 675 over Cub Creek (Rt. 40 – Poor House Rd) – Road closed; temporary signal for bridge replacement. Est. comp.9/28/15.

Craftons Gate – Crews will weed and cut brush.

Phenix – Crews will clean ditch lines and add shoulder stone.

Various secondary routes–Crews will work surfaces, boom axe and respond to customers.

 

Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 620 (Amelia/Cumberland Co. line) – Closed 2/23-8/02/15 for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 621, 13, 654 and 600.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, repair shoulders, cut brush and respond to customers.

 

Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 49 over Aaron’s Creek (near Halifax/Mecklenburg line) – Road closed thru 6/17/16 for bridge replacement.

Route 637 (Rt. 638 – 670) over SouthFork Buffalo Creek– Road closed for replacement of timber deck and substructure repairs. Detour via Routes 638, 40 and 670 to and from 637.

Route 705 (Rt. 706 – Rt. 704) over Stokes Creek – Road closed 3/2/15-3/20/15 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 704, 658 and 706 to and from Route 705.

Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will repair shoulders. 

Volens AHQ -Crews will work shoulders and boom axe.

Various – Crews will work surfaces, clean debris and roadsides and respond to customer concerns.

 

Nelson County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 654 over tributary of Tye River – Road closed 3/2-3/30/15 for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 661, 662 and 739.

Route 672 over East Branch- Road closed to through traffic for culvert replacement. Detour via Routes 673, 56, 655 to and from 672.

 

Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 713 (701-662) over Sandy Creek – Road closed 1/12-4/3/15, for structure replacement. Detour in place.

Route 726 – Be alert to improvements, including turn lanes for local and school traffic. Signs and other traffic control devices in place. Estimated completion April 29, 2016.

Route 750 (Brosville AHQ) and various routes in Gretna and Rondo  – Crews will work shoulders.

Kentuck AHQ – Crews will trim trees.

Various – Crews will boom axe, clean and work surfaces, and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 623 –Bridge replacement over NS and Buckingham Branch Railroads. Est. comp. 6/30/15.

Various – Crews will clean roadsides, make surface and shoulder repairs, cut brush and respond to customer.

 

District-wide activities:

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance.
