If you don’t know how a college calculates GPA scores, then here is the process mentioned below –
- GPA is derived by summing up all grade points that you’ve incurred divided by the total number of credit time period received.
- Credit hours for full time and part-time classes differ. Always remember part-time classes will have lesser points compared to full hour classes.
- The credit hours points can vary from 1 to 5.
- GPA provides a grading scale A, B, C, D, F, and each grade is given points. A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0.
- If you’ve taken a class that contains three units and you scored A, then 3 is multiplied by 4 and 12 is your score or grades. Along with that you take a class that provides 4 units and you’ve scored C in it, then 2 is multiplied by 4 to give 8 grade points in your score.
- The total points you incurred above is 20 out of 7 united provided by class. Now, this 20 is divided by total number of credit hour class points, i.e. 7, to give you 2.86 as your GPA score.
A, B, C, D are the main grades, but there are other grades that fall in between
A Category
- A- = 3.67
B Category
- B+ = 3.33
- B- = 2.67
C Category
- C+ = 2.33
- C- = 1.67
D Category
- D+ = 1.33
- D- = 0.67
