Two individuals have been arrested, including a man from Chesapeake, and face charges after a Corolla wild stallion was struck be a vehicle Friday night.

Bullwinkle, a 10-year-old stallion, was featured last week in a video by Corolla Wild Horse Fund challenging another Corolla stallion for mares.

The Fund received a 911 call late Friday night that Bullwinkle was struck by a vehicle while standing on the tourist beach. He suffered severe injuries and was euthanized Saturday morning.

As reported by ABC News 11, 57-year-old Porter Williamson of Chesapeake was identified by Currituck County Sheriff’s Office as the driver of the vehicle that struck Bullwinkle. Williamson fled the scene on foot but was later found by deputies and arrested. He is charged with resisting arrest, delaying and obstructing law enforcement and was placed under a $10,000 bond.

Rhonda Williamson, 62, also occupied the vehicle that struck Bullwinkle, and she is charged with resisting arrest and providing false information to law enforcement. She received a $5,000 bond for providing false information, according to Coastal Review.

The Fund posted on Facebook Monday that Bullwinkle’s loss was major for the herd and will be felt for generations to come on the Corolla beach.
